Garden State Chess League
Kenilworth's Garden State League 2013-14 season opens at Rutgers on October 15th.
In past years we fielded 2 or 3 teams but 2012-13 was such a disaster, we're cutting down to one. At the moment, our lineup for the bulk of the matches is John Moldovan (1877), Greg Tomkovich (1700) and Geoff McAuliffe (1608). Don Carrelli is slated to play 2nd board vs. Rutgers but he probably won't be available for other matches until after the new year.
To compete for the championship, we really need to bolster the roster. Our 1st board scored just +1-3=3 last year and will face much stronger competition this season, as 3 foes have added masters (Peter Radomskyj, Arthur Macaspac, Karl Dehmelt) and Rutgers has lured Michael Goeller from us.
So, we are looking for someone 2000+ to step-up. If we can't improve at the top, let's do so at the bottom or in the middle. Another 1600+ would still be a great addition.
As you can see from the schedule below, 5 of the matches will be at home. The only other travel involved is to Branchburg (in December) and Rahway (in February).
Please email the KCC if you are interested.
